What is castor oil actually good for?

Castor oil is uniquely rich in ricinoleic acid a fatty acid not found in meaningful concentration in most other plant oils which is why it's long been used for scalp, brow, and lash conditioning, and as a thick, protective layer for very dry skin patches.

Why is it so much thicker than your other oils?

Its natural viscosity comes from its high ricinoleic acid content this is what gives it its characteristic sticky, dense texture. It's normal, and it's also why a little goes a long way.
